The Bridgewater–based law firm Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., is pleased to welcome Catherine L. Corey as an Associate. She joins the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Group, focusing her practice on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, mortgage foreclosure, loss mitigation, and related litigation matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Corey represented the Indenture Trustee in a large, complex bankruptcy case, multiple landlords in retail bankruptcy cases, and many unsecured creditors’ committees. She interacted with the U.S. Trustee, the governmental authority charged with overseeing bankruptcy cases; negotiated with opposing counsel; and prepared all documents necessary for the bankruptcy case. She also prepared and maintained a “watch list” for potential future bankruptcies. Corey also represented both regional and national financial institutions in mortgage foreclosure and asset recovery.
Corey earned her B.A. from Grand Valley State University in 2007 and her J.D. from New York Law School in 2010. She also earned her LL.M. from St. John’s University School of Law in 2011, where she was honored with the CALI Award for the highest grade in Bankruptcy Accounting and Supreme Court Amicus Brief and a Dean’s Merit Scholarship, for her outstanding performance.
