Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Welcomes Associate to New Jersey Office

Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., is pleased to welcome Michael A. Clore as an Associate.  He joins the firm’s Litigation Practice Group.

A resident of Highland Park, Clore joined the firm after three years with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General’s Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.  As a Deputy Attorney General, Clore worked closely with both public and private insurance carriers and financial institutions in the investigation and prosecution of crimes of fraud and theft throughout the state.  He also handled motions for reconsideration of sentence and dismissal of indictments.  In recognition of his outstanding performance, Clore received the 2015 Prosecutor’s Award.

Clore served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Dennis V. Nieves of the New Jersey Superior Court, Middlesex Vicinage, Law Division: Criminal Part, where he performed legal research and prepared bench memoranda and judicial opinions for pre-trial motions, motions in limine, and petitions for Post-Conviction Relief, and Municipal Court appeals; assisted and communicated with attorneys regularly.  He observed all aspects of criminal proceedings; and worked as a court-certified mediator in both small claims and landlord tenant matters.  As a Law Clerk for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance in Washington, D.C., he assisted Special Litigation and Projects Division with tracking of Natural Gas Facilities, assisted the Air Enforcement Division’s Mobile Source Enforcement Bureau with enforcement of Clean Air Act regulations, researched EPA regulations and fuel industry self-policing efforts for a Congressional Hearing regarding EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard Program, and performed legal research for latest EPA Enforcement Alert involving engine certification.

Clore earned his J.D. in 2013 from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Senior Editor of the Georgetown International Environmental Law Review, and his B.A. in Political Science and Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture in 2010, cum laude, from Syracuse University.  At Syracuse, he was an Executive Board Member of the Student African American Society and a member of Syracuse University Wrestling Club; held an assistant teaching position in the English Department of the I.E.S. Santa Teresa de Jesus Junior and Senior High School, supplementing English lessons to Spanish-speaking students ranging from seventh grade to high school; and studied abroad in Madrid, Spain.
